Nokia 6300i, Flash Lite 3 and no FLV stream support ?

    Hello,

I bought Nokia 6300i with Flash Lite 3.0

but suprisingly when I run this code on the phone
    System.capabilities.hasStreamingVideo
    it returns FALSE

    System.capabilities.version it says: FL 8,1,53,0

    According to
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/flashlite/...=00005147.html

Note: The hasStreamingVideo property is always false in Flash Lite 2.0 and Flash Lite 2.1, indicating that streaming FLV is not supported.

Does it mean, that there can be Flash Lite 3.0 phone (like my Nokia 6300i) that does not support FLV(RTMP) streaming ?

Thanks in advance for any reply or quote.

    Hi,

This is true, the 6300i does not support FLV.

Manufacturers have the choice to enable or disable features in Flash Lite because not all devices are made equal. In some cases the hardware isn't capable of supporting a feature like Flash Video, or at times the Operating System that hosts Flash can't support certain features.

    Thank you very much, Mark

Your qualified answer is highly welcome and saved me a lot of troubles examining the phone

By the way is there any updated list of phones capable or RTMP/FLV streaming ?

Seems like this Flash Lite technology is a black hole on the Internet at all...

    Thanks again and be well.

    Lad

    P.S.
On current Adobe device Central Nokia 6300i says it supports FLV and Audito streaming, that also confused me a lot. When I iterated the System.capabilities object I got far different results then on real phone. What a shame...

    Hi Lad,

You are right, there is a strange issue here. Basically our backend database which holds all these profiles reports that FLV isn't supported.

The profiles in Device Central report that it is supported, which is incorrect. Thanks for pointing this out and I'll ensure that it gets fixed in the next update.

To discover the supported devices you can look at this pdf, in there are the devices from Nokia with Flash Lite 3.0. Some of the FL2.0 devices are marked with "3.0 via firmware". Thats an easy list of Flash Video devices in the market.

    Very nice list, thank you.
Could u recommend ANY phone which 100% supports RTMP streaming ?

I just need to return Nokia6300i and get another phone for development testing.

Do you believe I can rely on Adobe Device Central information about RTMP/FLV streaming capability.

I think this issue can help many other developers, hopefully this topic does not get lost fast

    Hi,

I would recommend the N95 in particular because it has the highest volumes in the market. If your application works on that device then it should be good for the others.
