    Question file I/O fault in .pkg file

    Hi All,

    I am getting error in .pkg file for creating .sis file

    C:\Symbian\9.1\S60_3rd_MR_3\Work\Location\sis>makesis Location.pkg
    Processing Location.pkg...
    Location.pkg(18) : error: file I/O fault.

    I know that Location.pkg(18)means I have error in .pkg file in line number 18.

    I checked line 18 of .pkg file and found that I have satnavgps.exe in given path.

    // My .pkg file
    ;Languages
    &EN
    ; Package header
    #{"SatNavGps"},(0xA01FF1Cd),1,0,0
    ;Localised Vendor name
    %{"SatNav"}
    ;Unique Vendor name
    :"Sat Nav"
    ;Supports S60 v 3.0
    [0xA01F7961], 0, 0, 0, {"S60ProductID"}
    ;Files to install

    // I have error in this line
    "C:\Symbian\9.1\S60_3rd_MR\epoc32\release\gcce\urel\satnavgps.exe" -"!:\sys\bin\satnavgps.exe"

    "C:\Symbian\9.1\S60_3rd_MR\epoc32\data\z\resource\apps\satnavgps.rsc" -"!:\resource\apps\satnavgps.rsc"
    "C:\Symbian\9.1\S60_3rd_MR\epoc32\data\z\private\10003a3f\import\apps\satnavgps_reg.rsc" -"!:\private\10003a3f\import\apps\satnavgps_reg.rsc"
    // End of file

    I am waiting for help

    Re: file I/O fault in .pkg file

    Hi,

    It means that your satnavgps.exe is not there at
    C:\Symbian\9.1\S60_3rd_MR\epoc32\release\gcce\urel\satnavgps.exe

    try recompiling and check for compilation errors which could be possible reason for not making satnavgs.exe
    Regards,

    Re: file I/O fault in .pkg file

    I have checked .pkg file and found that I did silly mistake.

    I change C:\Symbian\9.1\S60_3rd_MR to C:\Symbian\9.1\S60_3rd_MR_3
    and my sis file is created.

    Re: file I/O fault in .pkg file

    If you are building mainly from Carbide.c++ you should replace that path with $(EPOCROOT) so that you can build with whichever SDK is selected in your project configuration.

    For a list of other supported macros see Carbide's help. Please note that this will not work with command line build.

    Such mistakes can be avoided completely by simply using something like :
    Code:
    $(EPOCROOT)Epoc32\release\$(PLATFORM)\$(TARGET)\satnavgps.exe
    Note: This works on carbide but not for command line.
