Is it possible to allow user key in data and save it to phone during Midlet install?

Is it possible to allow user to key in data and save it to phone during Midlet installation?

PC software allows user to key in license No., company name, etc during installation and send the data over the internet or save it onto harddisk.

    If yes, how to do.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi zhubc123,

MIDlet installation process is totally managed by the phone, and there's no way to take control over it.

But, in your case, you can do in some alternative ways: for example, at first MIDlet execution, you could let your users enter the registration key and then send this data to your server. If registration goes fine, then you can save user data on device (e.g.: using RMS), otherwise you could notify the user that the entered data is wrong.

    Hope this helps,
    Pit

Thanks a lot. It seems we have to use the alternative way.
