Unhappy Modifying Jad file gets Invalid Application

    Hi,

I'm trying to change the MIDlet-Name property of the Jad file
The Idea is to create a personal Application name for each download of the application.

The Jad works fine with the generated value, but when I change it and try to download,
the Jad is downloaded and then I get - Invalid Application

    Any hit or idea...

    Thanks

    Hello

If what you do is just using a text editor to change the jad value, then you are missing the manifest.mf file in the .jar file.

    Thanks.

Can the MIDlet-Name value be changed by a program somehow ?

I would like to create a simple program that would change the value where ever it should - in the Jar & Jad.

    Thanks

Well, both files are plain text.
You need to unpack the jar file, change it and pack it again.

should work, but maybe there is another sollution.

After changing the manifest file inside the JAR file, you still need to make sure that the JAR size attribute in the JAD file matches the real JAR file size (if you are using the JAD file for the installation)

Also, if the MIDlet is signed (are there some certifcate attributes in the JAD file?) changing the JAR file means that you have to sign the MIDlet again.

Red face Re: Modifying Jad file gets Invalid Application

    Thanks.

Ok. I (almost) give up. It seems that I should not change the MIDlet-Name by changing the Jad and match it with in the Manifest.

It has to be done automatically some how.

Is there a way to change the MIDlet-Name by the Application on its first run. In other words, define a user parameter, use the getAppProperty to read the user defined parameter and change the application name in the cellular menu.

    Any idea ??

    Cheers,

If you are using WirelessToolKit then open wtk then go to
Settings-Required and change the MIDlet Name.
And also change it on "MIDlets" option.
