    Question video doesn't play

    i h've created a video playing application, it works fine.

    i invoke this application when there is an incoming call, applicatin invokes but video doesn't play.

    if i immediately reject the call as it rings/rejected by the caller immediate after one or two ring, than video plays.

    any idea why?

    Looks like a priority issue. what is the propriety of Active object you have.
    Also make sure that you are not using same active object for both video player and incoming call detection.

    video player is a different application and call detection is an diff. app. from where i invoking video player application.

    iPlayer = CVideoPlayerUtility::NewL(*this,EMdaPriorityMax, EMdaPriorityPreferenceNone,
    iView->ClientWsSession(), iView->ScreenDevice(),
    iView->ClientWindow(), iView->VideoRect(),
    iView->VideoRect() );

    i assined video player the max priority.

    Nope, the problem is actually the ringtone, which will prevent the audio part of the video to be played, and usually it causes the whole video not to be lpayed. Thus first do mute the ringtone, and then start your video player.

    Hi,

    My guess is that you have a conflict between the ringing tone and the video player both trying to use the device's DSP at the same time. Ringing tones have the highest priority in the system. Maybe with MultimediaDD and setting highest priority you could make this work but possibly there is also some kind of vendor ID check in the audio policy.

    Unless of course this if for pre-3rd Edition phones - in which case I'm not sure if there's anything else you can try (except setting the ringing tone to silent to see if this really is the case).

    EDIT: Beaten by Jukka! Can you mute the ring tone from a 3rd party app after it has started?

    Dunno really what could be used for 2nd ed, but with 3rd edition you could find the ringtone muting API from the API plug-in.
