    Question purpose of proximiy sensor

    Hello ,
It's the first question in this new DiBo :)
I don't understand the use of the proximity sensor in the Nokia 5800 ExpressMusic

    I know this

to prevent accidental screen touches (I don't understand this sentence

And I find constants also in the 5th edition SDK value for this sensor : Discernable , Undiscernable , Unknown

Could you explain exactly the purpose of this sensor ?

    pys60 1.4.5 and 2.0.0, pygame, PyS60 CE on E90 and 5800 !

Find my pys60 extension modules on cyke64.googlepages.com

    Re: purpose of proximiy sensor

I have not tried it, but as I did my PhD in Assumption University, I'm assuming that I can make some educated assumptions...

Basically I would assume that you can set the proximity sensor work in a way that when it determined that it is having something near, it disables the touch screen, so if you put it into a pocket etc., the touch is disabled..

Also one use case would be that when you answer the phone, your ear would not make any functions to fire when it is touching the screen..

Those values Discernable , Undiscernable , Unknown would propably mean the states the sensor has discovered, so it would change them according to its measurement results.
