Equivalent of Windows CreateEvent

HI,
I need some event notification between 2 functions that do a push and pop to a queue structure. They could be used by different threads, I mean one of the threads does a push and other pops data from the queue.
This can be achieved using an event object on Windows. I am trying to achieve the same on symbian. Does it have an equivalent?
Say i dont want to use my push and pop as active objects and hence i cannot use a TRequestStatus in this case.

I can use an Rsemaphore instead, but the concern is about the max number of times i can signal it. Is the maximum count documented in SDK?

You could look at RMsgQueue which works fine for small amounts of data
Download Symbian OS now! http://developer.symbian.org

Re: Equivalent of Windows CreateEvent

Hi,
Thanks for the link.
And regarding the message queue, the issue is that i need to specify the maximum slots or number of messages while creating the queue. In my application, I cannot predict the no of messages so i cannot go with RMsgQueue.

In case of an Rsemaphore is there an upper limit on the number of times i could signal it, I mean the maximum count?

Hi,

In most of the cases 5 is a very good number of message slots you could specify for your message queue.
