Precise mouse controll with the N95 accelerometer [VIDEO]

    Hi,

I'm developing an application in Python that controll the mouse with the N95 accelerometer.
This is an example of the actual progress:

    Wow thats cool
    Congrats!

Shame that I only have an N81 with no accelometer
Are you going to make a version for phones with no accelometer?

Re: Precise mouse controll with the N95 accelerometer [VIDEO]

    Hi Alcyone,

    Thats really cool!
Here I have added it to the Wiki!
Do let us know when you release it!

@Rich: Such and application is already available i.e for non accelerometer devices. But you have to key in the mouse or keyboard events in that applcation as no sensor
One more thing Rich. One more such similar application can be made for non accerelometer devices using th e back camera...I think I have seen such application. All I had done is just open the back flap of my 6680 and place it on the mouse pad...Move it and it works as an acual cordless mouse! But it has less precision though..Nevermind Great Logic
Do let me know if you would like to make such an app.

Yes, where can I get them and are they free?

I'm also intrested in making one for the N81 and make use of its NaviWheel (you can spin your thumb around the d-pad to scroll in some menus) but cant get sensor to work

Do you think the camera controlled mouse could be done with python?

    Hi Rich,

Well of course they are not available for free
However you can get the trial versions for free of charge!

Have a look at this link.

Drop me an email and I can give you more link regarding more such applications.

Yes camera controlled mouse could be implemented in python I will search and mail you a sample application if I am able to find it!

    Best Regards

    Hello everybody

This application made by Alcyone for controlling PC mouse and simulating wheel by using N95 and accelerometer (aXYZ module exactly !) and bluetooth has now a name NiiMe !

Great use of aXYZ module !

Re: Precise mouse controll with the N95 accelerometer [VIDEO]

    Hello again

I found a cool hardware trick for modifying a mouse with a accelerometer chip and transform it to a 3D mouse
And someone asked for the code for making a N95 mouse !

Not, thanks to you for your aXYZ!! (You are here! www.NiiMe.com/about.htm )

I'm having exams now , but in 9th february I will publish the NiiMe (Wheel & Mouse fusion with a lot of options and better GUI).

It have a lot of precisión in steering and acelerating/braking, now I'm trying to change gears by moving the mouse like "shifters" in the F1.

    Soon...

Re: Precise mouse controll with the N95 accelerometer [VIDEO]

Would you mind to consider to don't spread the lie of a general purpose "N95 accelerometer", but rather do exactly point out, that all of your fine stuff does run on a special N95 firmware version only? Probably just only on yours?

I have a N95 with a 12.x.x.x version, fitted with an accelerometer, but NONE of your Python modules runs on it.

    Thanks.

I'm sick of that unspecific N95 accelerometer huuuu and haaaa and niicccce and wooooowwww.

Check the www.Niime.com webpage and download the lastest version off Niime Mouse (.EXE) follow the NEW instructions, and if you have problems check the forums.

OK, you shouldn't be too disappointed, if I report, that doing this was the fastest way to crash my phone up to now. Congratulations

    1. Install Accelerometer Plug-In and aXYZ Plug-in

    Done. No problems

    2. Install Python for S60 3rd edition (IMPORTANT: Plug-in and Shell)

    Done. 1.4.2

    3. Plug-in a bluetooth adapter (Use its own drivers or Bluesoleil, not Microsoft ones)

Hmm. Not sure, what this means, but I enabled my BT adapter and could manage to connect my Hyperterminal with the bluetooth console.

    4. Open Python in your mobile, go to: "Options>Bluetooth Console" and connect to your computer

    Done.

    5. Run the Niime software, select the COM port of your bluetooth and press CONNECT

Yeah. Say good bye to the phone. I would say, I could successfully control my phone using my PC. But wasn't this intentionally meant reversely?

    BTW: I have a N95.
    2. BTW: FRN95 complains about missing module serial. Who the heck talked about "serial" in the overwhelming instructions set?
    3. BTW: Niime.py complains about missing wx.... Great stuff indeed. Enjoying it really...
    4. BTW: NiiMe - Nice name. In german this is phonetical identical to "Nie mehr", which means: Never again. Perfect match, I would say...

I hope you see my point.
