    Reading file takes more time on Nokia E61i while less time on Nokia 2626

    I am developing a software which contains many calls to following function ReadData()

    Code:
    void ReadData(int RequiredInputStreamPositionInByte, Buffer, BufferOffset, Length){

    InputStream InputStreamObject;
    InputStreamObject = FileConnectionObject.openInputStream();
    InputStreamObject.skip(RequiredInputStreamPositionInByte);
    InputStreamObject.read(Buffer, BufferOffset, Length);
    InputStreamObject.close();

    }
    I tested it on Nokia 2626 & Nokia E61i. Same file is present on both the phones. But it is talking more time on Nokia E61i while it is executing quickly on Nokia 2626.

    Please let me know the reason.

    Also, If I change the function to following:

    Code:
    void ReadData(int RequiredInputStreamPositionInByte, Buffer, BufferOffset, Length){

    for(int i = 0; i < Length; i++){
    Buffer[i + BufferOffset] = 0;
    }

    }
    Then the code on Nokia E61i is executed faster.

    ...I cannot post the complete project over here.
    Please help me
    Thanks in advance

    This could be related
    http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.ph...dition_devices

    Do you have the file in the phone memory or on the memory card?

    Re: Reading file takes more time on Nokia E61i while less time on Nokia 2626

    I have tried with Nokia E51 & Nokia 3110
    Same problem is there... On Nokia 3110, software reading file is faster while on Nokia E51 it is slower
    I think on Series 40, file reading is faster while on S60 file reading is slower.

    If anybody knows the reason then please tell.

    Note: File is present in Phone Memory

    Re: Reading file takes more time on Nokia E61i while less time on Nokia 2626

    On Nokia website, it is given

    (JSR-75 Optional Package) FC API
    Changes between releases
    From S60 3rd Edition FP1 to S60 3rd Edition FP2
    Added a new internal read buffer which speeded up the read operations.

    See URL:
    http://www.forum.nokia.com/document/...787198186.html

    I think in all S60 platforms upto S60 3rd Edition FP2, reading file is slower. Nokia had even not put read buffer in S60 platform (read buffer is present on Series 40 platform I think, because file reading is faster on Series 40 platform)

    Please comment...

    Yes, there has been improvements in the S60 latest platform versions for file read/write operations. The performance of those operations has not been optimal and the meory card writing was extremely slow (hence we wrote the known issue on that).
