New to JavaME -> Symbian security warnings

    Hi,
I have created an application in JavaME (J2ME) that writes generated files to phone storage and uses the location API (S60 3rd ed. FP2). However, using the application on my Nokia N78, i get spammed with 'security warning's whenever the application writes to phone storage or when starting GPS.

I do not want to spend money on a certificate, as this is an application that i do not earn money from.

My application creates a JAD/JAR file pair.

How do i disable the security warnings?

    Best regards
    John

According to this article, you should be able to set the warnings for using the GPS to "Ask first time" but apparently that is not available for reading or editing user data (in your case writing files). I guess the only complete solution would be to sign it.

    Thanks for the reply!

    About the certificates:
It would seem to me that freeware/open source applications are a no-go on Symbian, with the current certification model? I dont know anybody that wants to pay 200$ a year just to give away free applications ( except mallware programmers of course )

    Best regards

Well actually Java ME signing is a bit different than Symbian Signed. These two articles explain it in detail:
