    Distorted widget icon

According to section 4.1 in the document "Getting started with Nokia Web Widget Development" the widget icon size should be 88x88 and PNG format:

Icon.png: Installed widgets can be viewed on a mobile device screen (Application Menu) through
a custom icon. An icon image must be in Portable Networking Graphics (.png) file format. The
size of the icon is recommended to be 88 by 88 pixels. If the icon.png file is omitted from the
widget installation package, the widget will appear with a default S60 application icon.
My icon is a PNG and has the specified size but it's distorted nevertheless (both in emulator and on N78) and the result is looking like crap. Any idea to get it looking better? Is it possible to use SVG as the widget icon?

Same here - I have not been able to find a size that's not badly scaled
    Any tips welcome!

...though I suspect it's a problem with the runtime - all WRT apps I've tried have the same problem.

    Best Regards,

    Smile Re: Distorted widget icon

gaurav2610 has it right. My 88x88 icon looked bad, I searched this forum thread to refresh my memory on past icon ugliness, and I redid icon to 64x64 and now it looks very nice on E71 device. Cheers

    Re: Distorted widget icon

I hate digging up an old post but ... I've tried 64x64 on 96dpi, still looks crappy on a 5800. It's still badly scaled.
    Any other alternative?

    Re: Distorted widget icon

I used a 88x88 pixel 32 bit png exported from Fireworks and get good display quality on 5800, no scaling. In my experience, 32bit png was best option for application use as well.

    Re: Distorted widget icon

    Hi,

Just found a solution that works on all phones I tested with. Read about it here:
