    types of memories

    hi all,

can anyone tell me how many types of memory does a mobile device can have? 3 of them i know is:

    RAM
    ROM
    MEMORY CARD

when i try to access memory details in emulator it shows that there are four memory types. if 3 of them are as above, what is the fourth one?

    thanx

    Re: types of memories

My memory is of two types: long term and short term. None however contains info about a "memory details" API/dialog that might be showing 4 types of memory in the emulator.

Could you be a bit more explicit?

    Re: types of memories

Hmm, completely different story, isn't it? You should not always associate drives with memory types but rather use the APIs to find out what are properties of a drive.

C:\ is internal flash drive reserved for user data storage. PC Suite calls this "phone memory"
D:\ is a temporary RAM drive, used for data caching
E:\ to Y:\ can be any additional drive
    - usually E: is the memory card but could on some phones be an internal HDD or flash drive
    - some phone have both removable memory card and internal flash drive, thus E:\ and F:\
    - other drives could be remote (WebDAV)
    - it is also possible to create substed drives
Z:\ is the ROM, the drive that stores phone's firmware
