Well, its not about being free.More like being able to work on Linux.
    However,thats not very important.
Will carbide vs 3.0.1 plugin work with Visual Studio 2008?thats the real question...

    Re: VS 2008 support??

    Ok,couldnt edit my post:
    I checked,it doesnt.
Ive tried to download Carbide C++ several times, but it kept giving me server errors. And ive also heard it requires registration, though theres a free version(?).
Im doing this im my free time,so you could say i can use PyS60,however thats not an option for 3d development.
Ive also seen a Borland C++ for symbian, but looks like they dropped support.
So,guess there isnt any other tool to make apps for S60v3?

Well Carbide.c++ isn't that bad. There are 4 versions and the basic one, Express, is free and provides more than decent functionality. Registration is only required after the first 14 days and then every 29 days but you don't have to pay anything, the registration code is free.

    Re: VS 2008 support??

Like I said,PyS60 doesnt sound good for realtime 3d...
And registration each 29 days looks stupid.Sorry, but the lack of open compilers makes people like me hard to dive into symbian development.

    Re: VS 2008 support??

Bogdan: if your Carbide.c++ requires you to re-register it in every 29 days, that is not a standard behavior as I know. Consider running a disk-check and/or re-installing Carbide.

Symbon82: there are rumors about that future versions of Carbide may work on Linux. Also note that it is more of your ISP's or your browser's fault if you can not download Carbide.c++, you should not blame it on Carbide itself.

So,the 29 day reregistration is not usual?I will retry to re-download the Carbide C++.I know its not their fault.
PS.Is it true you cant register with gmail/yahoo,or other free emails??

Yes, I guess you're right. I uninstalled Carbide, restarted the PC and installed it again. I tried to set the date ahead to see if it would ask for registration but it didn't so I'll have to wait "for real" and see what happens. Anyway, thanks for helping with this strange problem.

All you need to to register to Forum Nokia and you have done that already.

If any registration is required (after 14 days for SDK and plug-ins, never for Carbide.c++ Express itself afaik) then you will do it through the Forum Nokia web site, using the same user account.

So, stop being worried about stuff and get to work :)

Again, you think too much :)

ActivePerl is free and you can download it from ActiveState.com

The only limitation, documented in SDK's release notes, is that you need a rather old version of the tool, 5.6.1.6xx

My bad. It seems there was a strange problem with my installation, that's why I said those things about the registration. Either that or I mixed up what I remembered about the SDK and Carbide. Sorry for the confusion.

You can download Perl from here: http://downloads.activestate.com/Act...SWin32-x86.msi
    It's free.

You should rather check than think.
And also check the numbers, 5.6.1 635 (or 638) is your friend. 5.10.x or 5.8.y are not.
