    Starting a process on device from desktop

    For test automation purpose, we need to start a program on device from desktop.

    I am very new to Symbian so any help on how to do this will be very much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance for your help!

    Magic doesn't simply happen so you would need a phone side client to run your tests for you as instructed from the PC based controller.

    You don't. What you do is make sure that the application is already/always running, i.e. you start it when the phone boots.

    Umm, maybe I have too much information but there is such thing as TestDriver. It's a Symbian provided tool. I'm not sure what the availability is though exactly (i.e. OEMs only or general public) Go to https://developer.symbian.com/main/t...oads/index.jsp to download it. If you can't access this page then I don't think you can use it.

    You can use my LogMan tool's shell for this over USB or WLAN.

    Code:
    exec c:\sys\bin\myapp.exe <args>
    And there you have it...

    Is it running or what?
    Code:
    ps
    <imagine a list of processes here>
