Thumbs up The application is going to in sleep mode

    Hi friends,

I have written a player application.

That is working fine on Nokia mobiles.

I tested the same on Blackberry mobile. The problem is that when the application is playing a video file, after playing some time, the screen goes into blank screen. whenonly some key is pressed on the mobile, the application gets resumed. I dont want this type of behaviour. I used the canvas.

I know that this is not the forum to question, but I didn't get any help from blackberry forum and from net also. So I am putting my question here.

Please kindly help me to resolve this behaviour.

    Thanks,
    Manoj.

    Hi Jappit,

yes, I have read the class specified by you. I think its regarding back light. I dont think it helps me, may be I am wrong.

    Here is my problem.

When my application is playing the media file, after playing some time, the application itself goes into sleep mode. I mean I am only visible the black screen. nothing is happening at that time. When I press any key, the application gets resumed and I am able to visible the video. But this should not be happened.

I mean there is no continuous display of the video. After showing the video for some time, the screen goes into blank. till we press any key, the application is not get resumed.

Can you please check one more time and suggest me what code I need to write and where? I am using canvas to display the video.

    Thanks,
    Manoj.

    Hi Manoj,

I'm not sure about it, since I have not a BlackBerry device to test it on now, but maybe, keeping the backlight on with the class given before, you could avoid the screen to go into sleep mode. Nokia UI API works this way, so you could give it a try.

Actually, on nokia mobiles also I am getting similar type of behaviour. After playing some time, the screen goes into inactive state, I mean the audio is coming and video is also coming but the screen is in very dull mode. If I press any key then the video (screen) is brighten and I can able to see the video. How to avoid this situation in Nokia mobiles?

As stated here, not all Nokia devices support this functionality:

    http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.ph...on_S60_devices

This functionality is available starting from S60 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 1 devices, although some early S60 3rd Edition, FP1 releases do not support this.
    Is this your case?

    Hi,

I am not sure but can you please tell whether this happen when the phone is idle for some time. I mean the phone is taking video and audio but you are not pressing any of the keys of mobile.

If this is what happens then try to change the display settings of your mobile which will have a option of Power On try to Power Off that and then run your midlet. I am not sure but may be this can help you out.

it seems to be like you mention. I think you clearly understand my problem.

can you please show me some example?

    Thanks,
    Manoj.

On the devices not supporting this functionality there's no workaround available in pure Java ME. You could try writing an helper Symbian C++ application that keeps backlight on, but it would be only compatible with S60 devices.
