    texfield in canvas ?

    i have seen a couple of java ui librarys and none delt with this problem . how to make a textfield within a canvas ? without opening a textbox ...
    user types text like in a normal textfield inside a form object ...
    the solution i seek should be targeted to MIDP 2.0 applications on S60 third edition devices with feature pack one.

    Hi,
    Well there is not in built API that you can work with in order to make the textfield on the canvas..so far.
    IS there any primary need for the same..
    I can give the idea if it is the primary requirement.

    Hi mikecoti,
    We have developed a component that lets you accept text on a canvas. We also use our own bitmap font for this purpose. I can mail you the sample code if you are interested.

    Well many more people can take the advantage of the code what you are talking about.I guess it would be, rather more better if you can shared here on FNDB...am I correct.???

    Put the code here..in order to minimized the coming post on the same...point..in the future..

    Hi,
    Check out the sample application that I have included. When running the application, use the # key on the emulator to switch between Alpha and numeric. The Left navigation key erases the characters to the left. Check it out and let me know if it was helpful.

    wow amazing as i understand , it was all written from scratch .
    but it will never posses all the capabilities like auto-complete and other languges will have to be implemented seperatly .

    mike, you are right. You just mentioned the biggest reason why the canvas based UI frameworks use textboxes for input.
