Angry Emulator of S60 3rd Edition FP2 SDK does not work?

    Hello,

I'm new to Java ME development and I wanted to start developing with the S60 3rd Edition FP2 SDK and NetBeans 6.5 on Windows XP Pro SP2 32-bit.

With die SDK and NetBeans as itself, everything is fine but if I want to start the emulator, it doesn't open and a default Windows error window with no specified error appears.

The emulator of the S60 3rd Edition FP1 SDK works fine.

Has anyone an idea or a solution about that problem.

    Regards

Thumbs up Re: Emulator of S60 3rd Edition FP2 SDK does not work?

    Hi,
How you come to know that emulator is not working..??
Have you created one project and set the emulator by
@just right clicking the project and set go to
    @Manage emulators..
@then select one from the drop down list.
@set the one ewhich you want work with.
Then press ok and then press F6 in case of netbeans IDE.
It will start running the project which is MAIN PROJECT.Then emulator will come into the picture.
    Thanks,
    Thanks with Regards,

    R a j - The K e r n e l

Re: Emulator of S60 3rd Edition FP2 SDK does not work?

    Hi raj_J2ME,

if I want to start the emulator via the Windows start-menu the emulator does not open and the error window appears. If I want to run my project in NetBeans the error-window appears too.

These two ways of starting the emulator work fine in S60 3rd Edition FP1 SDK.

    Kind Regards

Re: Emulator of S60 3rd Edition FP2 SDK does not work?

    I'm having the same problem.

I'm using S60 3rd Ed. FP2 SDK v1.1, with Netbeans v6.5, and the emulator doesn't work. I've tried it with several different projects. Actually, it worked once, but then hasn't worked since.

I'm using Vista SP1 (the OP was using WinXP).

Below I've pasted, (1) the error log from Netbeans, and (2) the crash report from the Nokia SDK. I had to chop out a bit to make it fit.

Re: Emulator of S60 3rd Edition FP2 SDK does not work?

Has anyone made any progress on this bug?

From what I can tell it is happening to people on both Vista and WinXP.

My VM is the usual: Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (11.0-b15) for windows-x86 JRE (1.6.0_10-b33).

I don't think it has anything to do with my using the new NetBeans release, v6.5, because I have the same problem when trying to start the emulator independent of NetBeans.

Any ideas anyone? The SDK is pretty useless without an emulator.

    @qwavel:

I haven't made any progress on this bug.

I agree with you, when you say that it has nothing to do with the NetBeans 6.5 release. I've tried it with NetBeans 6.1 an independent of NetBeans.

My Java version is the JSE 6 Update 10 release.

Re: Emulator of S60 3rd Edition FP2 SDK does not work?

    I think I have found a solution.

There is now a new JDK rev: 11. I upgraded and that fixed the problem for me.

To do this, I ran Netbeans, added the new JDK (Java platform), then quit and modified the netbeans configuration file to point to the new JDK.

I can't remember the path/name of the config file, but I found it by hitting the help button when I was looking at the netbeans dialog where I added the new JDK. The help told me what to do.

Give it a try and let me if it works for you.
