Connect to a wireless netwok using N95

Hello. I saw that there are many posts regarding this problem. I tried to find the answer but I could not. I hope you can help me with this.

The problem is that I can not connect to the wireless network on campus. We have WPA/WPA2 authentication EAP-PEAP with MSCHAPv2.

Here are the settings for linux/Ubuntu: http://lug.wsu.edu/wireless/peap/ubuntu

On my phone (Nokia N95 with the latest available firmware) I have the settings:

    Network status: public
    WLAN network mode: infrastructure
    WLAN security mode: WPA/WPA2

    [WLAN security settings]
    WPA/WPA2 EAP
    WPA2 only mode: Off

    [EAP plugin settings]
EAP-PEAP selected, the rest is not selected

    [EAP-PEAP]
    Personal certificate: none
Authority certificate: Verisign class 3 public ...
User name in use: user defined
    User name: <my user name>
    Realm in use: user defined
    Realm: <none>
    Allow PEAPv0: Yes
    Allow PEAPv1: No
    Allow PEAPv2: No

    [Settings]
EAP-MSCHAPv2 selected, the rest is not selected

    [EAP-MSCHAPv2 Settings]
    User name: <my username>
    Prompt password: No
    Password: my password

To understand what goes wrong I used wireshark on my laptop to grab the packets. The result is very strange, maybe because I do not understand it completely. Below I post the sequence of the packets in the order the are received. I abbreviate Nokia N95 by "N" and the access point by "A":

    (N) IEEE 802 Probe request
    (A) IEEE 802 Probe response

    (N) IEEE 802 Authentication
    (A) IEEE 802 Authentication

    (N) IEEE 802 Association request
    (A) IEEE 802 Association response

    (A) EAP Request, Identity [RFC 3748]
    (N) IEEE 802 Null function (no data) <-- happens all the time here

    (A) EAP Request, Identity [RFC 3748]
    (N) EAPOL Start

    (A) EAP Request, Identity [RFC 3748]
    (N) EAP Response, Identity [RFC 3748]

    (A) EAP Request, PEAP [Palekar]
    (N) SSL Client Hello

    (A) EAP Request, PEAP [Palekar]
    (N) EAP Response, PEAP [Palekar]

    (A) TLSv1 Server Hello, Certificate
    (N) TLSv1 Certificate, Client key exchange, cypher, encr handshake

    (A) TLSv1 Server Hello, Certificate
    (N) TLSv1 Application Data

    (A) TLSv1 Server Hello, Certificate
    (N) TLSv1 Application Data

    (A) TLSv1 Server Hello, Certificate
    (N) TLSv1 Application Data

    (A) TLSv1 Server Hello, Certificate
    (N) TLSv1 Encrypted Alert

    then it disconnects.

Here is a part of a successful connection of my laptop (L):

    (A) EAP Request, Identity [RFC 3748]
    (L) EAP Response, Identity [RFC 3748]

    (A) EAP Request, PEAP [Palekar]
    (L) SSL Client Hello

    (A) EAP Request, PEAP [Palekar]
    (L) EAP Response, PEAP [Palekar]

    (A) TLSv1 Server Hello, Certificate, Certificate request, server hello done (different!!!!)
    (L) TLSv1 Certificate, Client key exchange, cypher, encr handshake

    (A) TLSv1 Change cypher spec, encr handshake
    (A) TLSv1 Application data
    (L) TLSv1 Application data
    ....

I hope the information can help you to help me

Re: Connect to a wireless netwok using N95

If you need any other information (f.e. contents of the packets, etc), I can provide it.
