Thumbs up Re: HTTP : 500 Error

    Hi j2me8
Response status codes beginning with the digit "5" indicate cases in which the server is aware that it has encountered an error or is otherwise incapable of performing the request. Except when responding to a HEAD request, the server should include an entity containing an explanation of the error situation, and indicate whether it is a temporary or permanent condition. Likewise, user agents should display any included entity to the user. These response codes are applicable to any request method.

    500 Internal Server Error
    501 Not Implemented
    502 Bad Gateway
    503 Service Unavailable
    504 Gateway Timeout
    505 HTTP Version Not Supported

Any client (e.g. your Web browser or our CheckUpDown robot) goes through the following cycle when it communicates with your Web server:

    * Obtain an IP address from the IP name of your site (your site URL without the leading 'http://'). This lookup (conversion of IP name to IP address) is provided by domain name servers (DNSs).
    * Open an IP socket connection to that IP address.
    * Write an HTTP data stream through that socket.
    * Receive an HTTP data stream back from your Web server in response. This data stream contains status codes whose values are determined by the HTTP protocol. Parse this data stream for status codes and other useful information.

This error occurs in the final step above when the client receives an HTTP status code that it recognises as '500'.
for the other list of codes you can go through the links,

Hope these lines can help you,
    Thanks with Regards,

    Re: HTTP : 500 Error

500 error code suggests that the server has to failed to perform the request operation. It might not give the complete details of the error to the client application. For getting details one may have to look into the logs created by the server.

I think 500 error can be resolved by the server side and not the client side. To summarize it is a server side problem and not the client side problem.

If you have access to server code then you may have to debug that.

    Re: HTTP : 500 Error

as sunil states u'll have to check the server...
sometimes its because the called script (or url) isnt'r reachable or completely absent...
the good part is that u actually are able to reach the server itself...
