    On some devices, using a TextField and setting the constraint as PHONENUMBER or EMAILADDR may give the user an option to choose and insert an entry from the device's phone book. This will not work on all devices, but will work, for example, on Series 40 DP2. It does not require PIM API, app signing, or permissions.

    This is the closest you will get to PIM access without using the PIM API.

    Yes, that's true

    You can't go any further without JSR 75.
    And for your information, works in most of Nokia phones
