    responseXML causes KERN-EXEC 3

    Hi,

i'm accessing a webservice using XMLHttpRequest & responseXML() in the S60, 5th Edition SDK v0.9. But if the first line in the XML is '<?xml version='1.0' encoding='ISO-8859-1'?>' I do get a Kernel Excpetion. If I change it to '<?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>' it works fine. Can someone tell me the problem with this?

    Cheers, Geri-m

for me it is happening the same, even when receiveng responses with the UTF-8 encoding parameter. No idea, but (for me) it makes the SDK practically useless when it comes to WRT development.
I hope it will be solved on version 1.X of this SDK

What's the actual encoding? I mean just changing the declaration doesn't change the actual encoding - you're just changing the promise for what the file is encoded with.

Perhaps there's a BOM (byte-order-marker) a the beginning of the file if it's actually UTF-8 and then when delcaring it as being ISO-8859-1 that BOM is not supposed to be there and the parser gets upset. Of course it shouldn't crash, but that's another story.

    Re: responseXML causes KERN-EXEC 3

    Hi,
I am also facing the similar problem rather I will say problems. It seems there is something wrong about widgets in 5th edition. I created and tested my widget on 3.2. It is working fine there, but when I tried to run the same widget in 5th edition, its crashing at different points. Sometimes its giving some WidgetUi ..... error messages, sometimes Kern Exec 3. I tried to debug it. It is crashing for responsexml also....
If someone got the clue about this, Please help.

    Regards,
    Priti

    Hi,
I am getting that data from RSSfeed link which is itself a XML link. So, this link might not help much. Anyways, I have tested my application on 5th edition SDK version 1.0 and No Crash is there.

    Thanks.

Yep, there was some problems with 0.9 SDK, 1.0 should work just fine now.
