Opening maps application with a link? (maps: protocol?)

    Heyo Forum Nokia,

Is it possible to open the embedded Nokia Maps application with a link in the S60 Web Browser?

On the iPhone / Android phones this can be done by using the `maps` protocol in a link, similiar to `mailto` or `tel` eg:

    HTML Code:
<a href="maps:<link to some kml file>">Click here to open maps!</a>
    Is this supported on Nokias?

    Cheers,

    John

I do not know if you can use the map tag, however the latest Nokia phones support landmarks. These landmarks are xml based files that store address and GPS information.
When the MIME-type is set correctly, the phone opens the landmark application. If within the xml file the GPS information is given, then the user can select show on map and the maps application will be opened.

The MIME type for landmark file is: application/vnd.nokia.landmarkcollection+xml

Currently there is no APIs that would support adding the Nokia Maps into the browser.

I believe this is what you are looking for:

    services://C2A?C2Aid=2305&Version=1.0&2305=Landmark(lat=60.1783853&long=24.795528&name=Espoo%20Museum%20of%20Modern%20Art%20(EMMA))

Hi ... how do you use the above url? I tried it in a link, like this:

    Code:
    <a href="services://C2A?C2Aid=2305&Version=1.0&2305=Landmark(lat=60.1783853&long=24.795528&name=Espoo%20Museum%20of%20Modern%20Art%20(EMMA))">show map</a>
But I get an error message:

WidgetUi: Page not found, check web address.

I tried this on a E52 which had the "Here & Now" application installed. That is where I found the code to use in my wrt widget.

It's possible that it doesnt work on newer handsets. Check if your here&now application has a link to open landmark in a map. If it does, then you can use this method.

You mean there are no documented APIs......
As there are apps that link to OVI mapping (SociallyApp as an example of an app that does this very well) it is possible to do.
