    Carbide.c++ for Qt

    Hi,

I visited Forum Nokia Champion days in Budapest last month. Part of the requested preparations was to install a pre-release of Carbide.c++. On the location there was few patches to install, too.

    Question:

Should I now uninstall that pre-release and install the recently published official Carbide.c++ 2.0 or not?

    Confused,

    --jouni wondering about those patches

    Hi Jouni,

I think the answer is "when you can be bothered". Clearly there is a change to the released version for licensing but I think the functionality is pretty much unchanged.

I'm still using the release candidate we installed in Budapest and it works fine for Qt projects.

The patches we had to install were for the SDKs, not Carbide.c++, they are still required as far as I'm aware.

You probably want to stick with what they gave us for Qt development until the next technology preview release of Qt on S60.

    Hope that helps,
    Mark

Bit off topic: I really feel that they should make the installation process more simple.

I'm sure the install will be very simple and easy for the real releases. The technology previews need to be a bit complex to install put some people off I think - they're supposed to be for experienced developers and the extremely keen!

Hi and thanks for all the feedback and help!

Regarding the Carbide it's always recommended to install the newest version.

What it comes to the Qt/S60 installation instructions we're working on that for the next release and I will update these forums once we have everything done (really really soon!)

    Cheers,
    Jack
