    Hi kishore,

I want to put an icon on the idle screen of the handset from our application not on the application. I can put an icon at any place of my application. But i want to put on the background of the idle screen of the handset. Can anyone give me some idea how to do that? Please show me the way to do that.

    Hi,

yes you can do it - but you have to care manually about many things starting with the Idle screen detection, intializaton of many classes, screen resolutions, key/pointers handling, etc. Doing it properly is not an easy task. Also the process, which will display the icon will be probably the non-GUI EXE file running in the background. It is pquite tricky to make all those things wokring properly together.

The basic idea how to implement such things is described here:

    Hi,

I am waiting for your reply. How to access the idle screen of the handset from a console application? Any idea will be a great help.

Patience is a virtue. I have already seen two other threads from with a variant of this last question. Both of them are actually answered. Also note that since you are already aware of TApaTask, you can think not only in SendToBackground of your console executable, but you can also think of BringToForeground of an other one - like the Phone application in this case.

    Hi Stenlik,

Nothing wrong with your recommendation. But i am not getting the path right. From where to start. And i am not able to detect the idle screen of the handset. Can i use .bmp files in console application? I want to put an icon in the idle screen so i added the bmp files in the .mmp file. At compile time it doesn't give any error but when i try to install it it show an error unable to update. What may be the reason?

Re: How to put an icon..

    Hi,

As far as I know there is not any API to detect the phone stand-by screen directly. You have to monitor WSERV events (e.g. EEventFocusGroupChanged), then look what is the top most application by checking its UID. For StandBy screen/application it is 0x101fd64c (http://discussion.forum.nokia.com/fo...d.php?t=104212).

This link might be also usefull for you: http://www.newlc.com/How-to-draw-an-Icon-on-the.html

Regarding the installation problem - so you were able to build the application, pack it into sis file (makesis) and sign it (signsis)? Then it shows some update error when you are trying to install it on the device? Then follwoing links might give you the answer for your installer question:
