    PKG-file and platform UID restriction

    Hello

    In my PKG-file I currently have a restriction to 3rd edition devices (platform UID):
    [0x101F7961], 0, 0, 0, {"Series60ProductID"}

    Anyway, the application can be installed on all 3rd edition FP1 (0x102032BE), 3rd edition FP2 (0x102752AE) and 5th edition (0x1028315F) devices. According to the documentation that's actually not possible: http://www.symbian.com/developer/tec....pkg-requisite

    My questions:
    a) Is the UID "0x101F7961" valid for all 3rd edition devices (including FP1 and FP2)?
    b) To allow the installation on all 3rd and 5th edition devices wouldn't it be safer to include all according platform UID's in the PKG as follows?
    [0x101F7961], 0, 0, 0, {"Series603rdProductID"}
    [0x102032BE], 0, 0, 0, {"Series603rdFP1ProductID"}
    [0x102752AE], 0, 0, 0, {"Series603rdFP2ProductID"}
    [0x1028315F], 0, 0, 0, {"Series605thProductID"}

    Yes, all S60 3rd Edition [FPx] based devices have a stub sis file with this package UID.

    Based on a) above, the platform IDs for S60 3rd Edition FP1 and FP2 are redundant.

    Re: PKG-file and platform UID restriction

    Hi Itomuta

    Thank you for your answer. So, you'd suggest to add only the following lines to the PKG to be sure that it can be installed on all 3rd and 5th ed devices?
    [0x101F7961], 0, 0, 0, {"Series603rdProductID"}
    [0x1028315F], 0, 0, 0, {"Series605thProductID"}

    Re: PKG-file and platform UID restriction

    Yes, that would work just fine.

    Remember that the platform dependency was intentionally broken in S60 5th Edition, despite of the verified binary compatibility. Applications developed for S60 3rd Edition must be fully tested for usability before being declared as compatible with S60 5th Edition's touch features.
