interfacing emulator with actual mobile device

    Hello everyone,

Is it possible to interface emulator with actual mobile device? So than we can access it from emulator directly without handling actual mobile device.

    OR

Do you know any tool to do so?

    OR

Any other medium for this purpose?

Please guide me to solve this problem

    Thanks and regards,

What do you want to achieve?

To run the application on the device, while debugging it in your IDE as if on an emulator? Search for "on device debugging". This feature is available on some Nokias, and all Sony Ericssons.

To run the application on the device, but see the keyboard and screen of the device on the desktop? This is possible only for Windows Mobile devices. The only similar technology for other devices is DeviceAnywhere.

    Cheers,
    Graham.

Hi abhijit. You can see this kind of service as Nokia RDA.

    Hi Bro,

I am fully aware abt RDA, and its not fullfilling my requirment

Actually i am trying to develop one automated tool for mobile testing,

Even we can do the same with AT commands but there are some shortcomes and its very specific to device.

I m searching for sol'n other than this.

Re: interfacing emulator with actual mobile device

    Hi all,

i want to add some extra tag to my question. Actually I want to access whole keypad of device from PC. With AT command we can access specific functionality of device like SMS or call but here I want to access a functionality which is not included in AT commands.

I need your help and valuable guidance.
    Thanks,

    Abhijeet Banode,

Re: interfacing emulator with actual mobile device

The closest you will get is to use tools like Remote S60 (for Nokia S60s) or ActiveSync Remote Display (for Windows Mobile). These tools only exist for devices with "proper" operating systems, so you won't do this on Series 40, Motorola "V", etc.

For other devices, the only option is disassemble the hardware and create a specific interface. This is essentially what DeviceAnywhere is. With DeviceAnywhere, you have complete control, so you can even remotely disconnect the battery, close the flip, and so on.
