    Re: How to set the application icon if qmake overwrites the pkg file?

    Many thanks, Lucian, for all that.

    A couple of questions...

    I tried using your code and got an error at line 8 of QtMWAppWithIcon_reg.rss:
    QtMWAppWithIcon_loc.rsg: No such file or directory
    Hmm...

    Is the .rsg extension correct?

    Yes, the RSG will be generated by the compiler and will contain the IDs of the resources defined in a *.rss file.
    Check if the resorce files are compiled correctly and in the right order (in the MMP file the entry start resource QtMWAppWithIcon_loc.rss must be before START RESOURCE "QtMWAppWithIcon_reg.rss" so that the rsg file is abailable at the time *_reg.rss is compiled.

    Re: How to set the application icon if qmake overwrites the pkg file?

    IT WORKED!

    Fantastic. I even managed to create my own little mif file via Inkscape/svg2svgt/mifconv -- which I guess was the point of the whole exercise .

    Your example included Makefile_1f1b6a56.mk -- the build process (from Carbide) also created Makefile_9687e120.mk, which I needed to overwrite with the content of yours (and make read-only).

    Thanks again (again).

    Smile Re: How to set the application icon if qmake overwrites the pkg file?

    Excuseme, may be I didn't get the problem...
    because I followed the Qt help and it's really very simple to change icon
    (or the original post is old and at that time this solution wasn't available)

    Just add "ICON = nome.svg" in your .pro:

    Setting the Application Icon on the Symbian platform

    In order to set the application icon for Symbian platform applications, you need an SVG-T icon. For information on how to create SVG-T compliant icons, please refer to

    How_to_create_application_icon in wiki.forum.nokia.com

    Once the icon is available in the correct format and assuming you are using qmake to generate your makefiles, you only need to add a single line to your .pro project file. For example, if the name of your icon file is myapp.svg, and your project file is myapp.pro, add this line to myapp.pro:

    ICON = myapp.svg
    ...then restart phone and it's done...

    That's exactly the case here. There's no need for symbian-style gymnastics anymore to define your own app icon.

    Putting the following lines in .pro file worked for me.

    symbian {
    isEmpty(ICON):ICON = <SVG File Name>
    }

    I've written a short and practical tutorial on how to set Symbian application icon and application title/caption for Qt apps here:
