    Is it possible to remove the context pane?

    Hi,

    We've got an application that needs to display a title and also a message in the navigator bar. However space seems to be a bit of a premium and we'd like to get rid of the image if we can.

    I can hide the image by doing
    Code:
        CAknContextPane* cp = static_cast<CAknContextPane*>
            (sp->ControlL(TUid::Uid(EEikStatusPaneUidContext)));
        cp->SetPicture(NULL, NULL);
    But whilst the image no longer shows, the space is still obviously reserved because the text fields still start in their same spots.

    Is there a way to remove the context pane from the status pane completely? Either via the Resource file or via code?

    Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

    Also you may try to change status pane layout style.

    Via Resource file
    Code:
     layout = R_AVKON_STATUS_PANE_LAYOUT_SMALL;
    or via code:

    Code:
    CEikStatusPane* statusPane = StatusPane();
    statusPane->SwitchLayoutL( R_AVKON_STATUS_PANE_LAYOUT_SMALL );

    Re: Is it possible to remove the context pane?

    Thanks for the suggestions,

    Setting the layout to R_AVKON_STATUS_PANE_LAYOUT_SMALL unfortunately has the disadvantage of hiding the title also. ie it only displays the navigation bar.

    Setting the size of the context pane or even the maximumWidth unfortunately seems to be ignored by the layout manager.

    Does anyone know if it is possible to define my own layout?

    You can add label on navigation bar:

    Code:
    RESOURCE EIK_APP_INFO
        {
        ///
        ///
        status_pane = r_app_status_pane;
        }

    RESOURCE STATUS_PANE_APP_MODEL r_app_status_pane
        {
        // Specify the required layout
        layout = R_AVKON_STATUS_PANE_LAYOUT_SMALL;

        panes=
            {
            SPANE_PANE
                {
                id = EEikStatusPaneUidNavi;
                type = EAknCtNaviPane;
                resource = r_navi_decorator;
                }
            };

        }

    RESOURCE NAVI_DECORATOR r_navi_decorator
        {
        type = ENaviDecoratorLabel;
        control = NAVI_LABEL
            {
            txt="Small Status Pane Label";
            };
        }

    Re: Is it possible to remove the context pane?

    Hi A.A.M,

    Yep, got that up and running, the problem is that I want the title to be displayed, AS WELL as text displayed in the navigation bar. So I want the two lines of text, but want to get rid of the picture so that my text has a bit more space.

    Peter.
