    Unhappy Certificate Exception

    Hi guys,

I am developing midlet app which will send data to server to be stored there.

I am using tomcat6, xampp and mysql database.

I am sending encrypted data that is why using SSL connection

I have configured my tomcat6 to open https://localhost:8443 by creating ceritificate and enabling the server.xml file of tomcat

If I send the encrypted data via Internet explorer "data send example = https//localhost:8443/ServletName/?b=EncryptedData"

the data is successfully saved in the database.

but when i try to do same in the midlet, I am having following certificate exception:
javax.microedition.pki.CertificateException: Certificate was issued by an unrecognized entity

How to solve this exception to allow https as I have tried with http the connection has no problem.

    Thanks in advance

    Re: Certificate Exception

    It didnt work traud

I have found out about MEKeyTool, but dont know how to use it, as I have created my own certificate for tomcat using the following command on CMD:

C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_12\bin\keytool –genkey –alias tomcat –keyalg RSA

which has created a .keystore (refrenced link : http://www.linglom.com/2007/07/21/en...he-web-server/)

my MIDlet is trying to connect to tomcat server.

    Thanks

    Which emulator do you use?

If you cannot figure out how to extend its certificate authorities (it is really complicated for some), what about using normal HTTP communication while developing/debugging? Then when everything is fine, you can install your certificate on the phone and use HTTPS instead. When that works, go for a well-known certificate authority. However, it might be more compatible (and perhaps cheaper) to use your own SSL/TLS over HTTP, especially if you control both sites (MIDlet and webserver).
