    Question gsm networks

is there a way to iterate through the available (not necessarily attached-to) GSM cells?

I've tried using RConnectionMonitor, but it seems that that can only iterate available WLAN networks, and not GSM ones. But perhaps I just haven't found the right way to use RConnectionMonitor yet?

unfortunately CTelephony is seemingly only returning information about the cell you are attached to, rather than those other cells that are available.

You might, for example, be attached to a specific Vodafone cell but be within range of several other Vodafone cells as well as many more cells from other carriers.

I would like to get a list of these cells, and ideally their signal strength! I am beginning to imagine this is too much to expect.

you could maybe try out the search box with "neighbor" keyword, it gives 56 threads on the topic.
