Key icon added to application icon on Nokia 6600

    Hi Guys,

I installed a java midlet on Nokia 6600 slide.
The midlet is signed, but not by the manufacturer or the operator.

When I look at the application icon in the applications list,
I see a red key icon on top of my application icon.

    Why is that key displayed?
Is it connected to the fact that my application is not signed by the manufacturer or the operator?
Is there any way to hide it or avoid it?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks ahead,
    Yoav.

That means the application is DRM protected or any of the images it contains.
It has nothing to do with manufacturer or operator domain.
I don't know any way to avoid it, but don't see any problem in having it there. Do you?

    Thanks rdrincon - That's a helpfull information indeed .

It's not a major problem, but eventually we want the customers to see the application icon "as-is".

I got this icon even on the simplest midlet, in which I can't think of anything that is DRM protected.
How does the device recognize that an application (or some part of it) is DRM rights protected?
Understanding this can help me either avoid the icon, or be able to better explain why it appears to the guys upstairs.

    Best Regards,
    Yoav.

    Question:

Does this icon appear when you install the app:

    1. via OTA
    2. via local connectivity to your PC.

If you are using OTA, please try local connectivity and tell us if this icon still appears.

I installed the application using Bluetooth as well, and the same icon appears.
