    Running a background application.

    Hi All,

    I am having Nokia 5610. I want to develop an application that will be running periodically at a specified time. That application should be running in background which is more or like a reminder.

    Is this possible in my mobile phone? If so please give me some idea how to develop it.

    Thanks,
    Arul

    Thumbs up Re: Running a background application.

    Hi,
    more or less what i understand from ur post is that u want to run an application in background and want to display an alert after a fix time interval. So buddy just set the display.setCurrent(null) and whenever u want to show an alert just compare the time interval with the help of currenTimeMillis() and display the alert for few seconds like alert.setTimeOut(2000).

    Also can use pushregistry. Just invoke the midlet and display for few seconds at fixtime and then reset the time schedule of reinvoking the midlet and then exit the application. Whenever the application invokes by pushregistry maintain a timer in application which reset the invoking time of application.

    like this..

    long day = 1000*60*60*24;
    long t = new Date().getTime() + day;
    PushRegistry.registerAlarm("PushDemoMIDlet", t);

    For this probably u hav to maintain two midlets.

    Hope this will help u somewhile.

    thanks,

    HI jitu. Can you tell me why we need to use two midlet ? Do you mean it as we cannot know that application starts manually or by push registery.

    That was just my guess for arul_nokia's intention. I was discussed for invoking of applicaytion by manually as well as by PushRegistry. Its not cumpulsion to take two midlets.
