    [Announce] Customized Listbox on canvas

Special needs require special programs. I was needing a special listbox, with variable number of lines per row. Even I have found some listboxes that accepted more than two lines per row, they didn´t allow to mix rows with different number of lines.

So, I decided to create my own listbox, drawing it on canvas and using PyS60. If you are interested, see the video and download the demo source code or sis. It may be a good starting point for other listboxes, for instance. The code was tested only in Nokia E71 and Python 1.4.5. It is not prepared yet for screen rotation.

    Very neat, indeed.

JPEG/PNG-images (like Icon in native listbox) would be nice to have, perhaps I'll try to add them by myself...

In emulator texts have little overflow, in many multiline cases 1-2 most right letters in the line are invisible.

And I'd like to wrap lines manually (with '\n').

    Something like this :-)

    Code:
    +-------+ text line 1\n
    |image | text line 2\n
    | | text line 3 which wraps automatically
    +-------+ to 4th line

So, the benefits of sharing: you may receive good ideas and contributions.
    \n support added in version 1.0.1 !

I have a version with images support but it needs to be improved/merged with this one. In fact, I need this feature for my twitter client and I must to implement it soon.

I've found this canvaslistbox very useful. It is easy to use and it's very configurable. I've already adopted it to show most recent photos from certain photo feed, and I'm planning to replace one chat's ugly appuifw.Text with this.

    Some notes:

    • When I scroll CanvasListBox (use up and down arrows) with images I see flickering. I can avoid this by commenting out clear_list() in redraw_list(), but then I lose scrollbar and I can't access the last item in the list.
    • CanvasListBox could automatically handle screen orientation changes

Yeh, there are a lot of space for improvements... I will take note of your comments, in special rotation.

    Thanks for testing/using it !

Re: [Announce] Customized Listbox on canvas

    Hi

I am trying to get a customized listbox on canvas. I downloaded the sis file provided and put it into my E63 phone. It is working fine as shown in video. But when I am taking the source code and packaging using application packager and putting it into the phone, only a blank screen appears.

What is the problem? Is the sis file made from same source code?

Hope to get a reply ASAP

    Regards
    Simil
