    Plugins and Browser Restart

    Hi All,
    After developing plugins for browsers , the things which sucks is that , the end user needs to re start the browser , for the plugins to be effective . This really kills the user experince. Is there any solution , to solve this issue.
    I found this documents , which talks about NPN_ReloadPlugins API ( the Browser_Plug-in_API_Developers_Guide_v2_0_en.pdf )

    Sends a request to the browser to reload all plug-ins the <A to Z>/apps/plugin/ directory.
    The browser searches all drives from A: to Z: for new plug-ins.
    The browser installs any new plug-ins it finds into that directory and loads them without restarting.
    Dont have a way ahead , as to
    1. Is this one of the solution?
    2. How does a programmer , implement this?

    Any pointers

    Re: Plugins and Browser Restart

    Hi All,
    As per the test results , here , looks like , every plugin , related to browser , has to have browser , restarted .? Is this statement true ? Has anyone faced this issue before and tried to solve it, without hindering the user experince?

    Any pointers would be appreciated.

    Cheers

    Angry Re: Plugins and Browser Restart

    Hi All,
    I am trying the following two methods , to reload the plugins , without restarting the browser.
    1.
    javascript -

    var isWebKit=(navigator.userAgent.indexOf('AppleWebKit')!=-1);
    ifpluginnotfound()
    {
    navigator.plugins.refresh(isWebKit);
    }

    2. The below snippet , is via app code , not via ECOM (as i need to reload the plugin , and having this again as a plugin , will not make any sense!)
    NPNetscapeFuncs* iNetscapeFuncs;
    iNetscapeFuncs=new(ELeave)NPNetscapeFuncs;
    iNetscapeFuncs->size = sizeof ( NPNetscapeFuncs );
    iNetscapeFuncs->reloadplugins=pluginreload;

    void pluginreload(NPBool reloadPages=ETrue)
    {

    }

    Both of them takes me to NO WHERE ....

    I think ,java script , may help , again repeat may help , as i am trying my a** out ..and cant seems to make it work. The page always reload and reload , continously...may be the script is aint proper enough....

    Re: Plugins and Browser Restart

    Hi All,
    For the Javascript navigator.plugins.refresh(true ) , to work on Symbian Browser , does the browser plugin needs to have the DRM Capability?

    Any pointers?
