    Problem to add Eclipse plugin into Carbide

    Hi all,

    I designed an Eclipse plugin with Eclipse 3.4.2. I packaged it and installed it in my Eclipse, and it's ok.
    Then, I installed Carbide C++.
    I copied the plugin folder into C:\Program Files\Nokia\Carbide.c++ v2.0\plugins
    Then restarted Carbide.

    The plugin (a simple View) is not accessible in Window->Show View (whereas it is in Eclipse).
    The plugin is not part of Plugin list of Carbide,
    and if I take a look at "Configuration Details", I see my plugin reference like this :

    com.fsl.buildenv (1.0.0) "Build_Environment Plug-in" [Installed]

    I don't know what Installed means, but I cannot see my plugin.

    Thanks for helping me

    ben

    I suggest you report a bug to Carbide.C++ Development Team.

    Hi,

    Yes, i tried to send a defect report with Carbide.
    I had a very nice Exception while sending the report.

    i wonder if this tool is tested before being released.

    Anyway, If someone already succeeded to create a plugin with Eclipse and make it work with Carbide C++, I 'm interested !

    I donot say that there are not any Bugs in Carbide.c++. But it has been tested religiously for its propose (Symbian.C++ Development) .

    Just for my info what your PlugIn Does. ?

    Re: Problem to add Eclipse plugin into Carbide

    ok, I understand.
    But as it's eclipse based, I was quite sure plugin integration would have been trivial.

    I'm developping a plugin to launch our S60-based phone build with all build options.

    For the moment I just have a view with controls.
    But if I cannot integrate it in Carbide, it's useless I continue to develop it...

    I'll move back to C# world, the Java Open Source Eclipse world is really tiring...

    But I'm still open to understand how to design a plugin (View) for Carbide. People in my departement are waiting for a nice GUI to launch their Build Environment in Carbide.

    Catbide.c++ is based on Eclipse 3.4.1.r341. Could that explain your problem?
    Also, have you used Carbide's plug-in development SDK? Have you used the right extension points?

    Re: Problem to add Eclipse plugin into Carbide

    Hi,

    I developped my eclipse plugin with Eclipse 3.4.2.
    In the plugin properties, I set eclipse support for 3.4 versions (so should work I imagine).

    Then, I put the plugin into carbide, and cannot see it.

    I don't want to create code for Symbian, or S60,
    I just want to create user panels into Carbide to give functionalities to my Symbian/S60 Integration team.
    Mainly GUIs.

    Can I develop Carbide plugins with Eclipse (Eclipse 3.4.2 Ganymede we find in Eclipse official site) ?
    if yes, what I need to do to make them work ?

    thanks

    if you see some other PlugIn then you can see that those work fine with Carbide.c++ http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.ph...2B%2B_Plug-ins

    Also http://symbianresources.com/projects/paniclookup.php is a Basic PlugIn

    I am not an Eclipse developer so I can't really give you advice what to do or not. However, you should try to make use of the Carbide.c++ Plug-in SDK (latest version 2.0.2.25) which "provides documentation and other help for creating Carbide.c++ plugins".

    In C:\Program Files\Nokia\Carbide.c++ v2.0\plugins
    The plug-in is most likely disabled by default in your configuration so you should enable it in order to make it visible in the Help system.

    Hi,

    With help of Carbide bugzilla guys, we solved this issue:

    Carbide C++ v2.0 supports only plugin compiled with Java 1.5 (I was compiling with 1.6).

    Thanks all for your support
