    Run application in background

    hi,

I want to ask one thing:

Can we really run our midlet in background?
in my case, i have set an alarm and when my midlet restarts after 30 seconds it starts getting location coordinates using integrated GPS and then email this info to the server.
but when my application restart,it displays its name to the screen.

It stops and put your current activity in background for a while, what ever you doing.

It should remain in hidden state which is not the case.

    can we really do that

    Re: Run application in background

Hi, you can run your midlet in background but it is not supported on all phones. Only S60 some of sony-ericsion, and some of motorola phone supports it. You can send app to background on these phone using display.setCurrent(null).

    Re: Run application in background

i didn't get any error but i have a page with my midlet name on top.
    It doesn't run in background.
    i.e.
when my app receive a message then it starts its functionality which is to get location coordinates and send an email.
And after that exit the app.
When i put null in setCurrent(),i still see my application running because it appears itself at screen with the midlet name only at the top and empy screen.can we set any priority for midlet to run in background.

it's not like you have any other calls to display.setCurrent(someDisplayable) within the background-running-code ?
