    Because it is not possible in this direct way. Use the search facility, some combination of update, updating, application, silent and install will reveal related threads.

    Re: Silent Installation

    #2 from 3 days ago is still valid.
    A thing you can do is installing an installer and launch it. Then you can exit from your main applicaton, and the installer can upgrade it.

    Re: Silent Installation

    I am still unclear as to whether you are trying to upgrade a seperate application or the application that is currently running (ie you are trying to update your self)

    Re: Silent Installation

    I suspect he is trying to do a self-update and hence the issues. I think the right approach would be to have an installer which is seperate from the main application that needs to be updated.

    If what your want to upgrade is not from itself, you can use task management programmatically to kill it and start silent installation/upgrade.

    Otherwise, you can start a seperate programm (Installer) from your application, which kills your own application and starts silent installation/upgrade for it.

    Re: Silent Installation

    Hi All !

    following code is working for silent installation .....
    void CPramAppUi::SilentInstall()
    {
    sleep(4);
    TFileName fileName;
    fileName.Copy(KSilentSisPath);
    if (CheckForFileExistanceL(fileName))
    {
    waiter = CLicenseSync::NewL();
    CleanupStack::PushL( waiter );
    User::LeaveIfError(iLauncher.Connect());
    iOptions.iUpgrade = SwiUI::EPolicyAllowed;
    iOptions.iOCSP = SwiUI::EPolicyNotAllowed;
    iOptions.iDrive = 'C';
    iOptions.iUntrusted = SwiUI::EPolicyNotAllowed;
    iOptions.iCapabilities = SwiUI::EPolicyNotAllowed;
    iOptions.iKillApp = SwiUI::EPolicyAllowed;
    iOptionsPckg = iOptions;
    iLauncher.SilentInstall(waiter->iStatus, fileName, iOptionsPckg);
    waiter->Execute();
    CleanupStack::PopAndDestroy( waiter );
    iLauncher.Close();
    DeleteFileL(fileName);
    }

    }
    I am calling SilentInstall() in constructor ...But If i am removing sleep(4)...thye silent code is not working ,In fact if we reducing the sleep value less then 4 then it also not working . mean it need some delay But why it Need delay can any one tell .Because i want to remove this sleep(4) bcz at time of installation due to sleep method screen going the blank & i want to remove this one can any one tell me.......

    Re: Silent Installation

    hi,

    i think, the sleep is used here for waiting the System's installer to exist.

    SilentInstall() is not usable, when Systems's installer program is still active.

    you should write a mechanismus to check the status/activity of installer.exe(such as a loop), rather than using sleep/wait in a fixed time interval.

    Some context may be handy. For example how is this "Pram" application gets launched? Manually? "RunInstall"? Startup List?
