Angry Carbide installation problem with perl

I set up the s60 dev environment with the following steps:
    1. JDK1.6 is already installed.
    2. install ActivePerl5.6.1.635
    3. install S60_3rd_Edition_SDK_Feature_Pack_2_v1_1_en.zip.
    4. install carbide_c++_v2.0.

when i start the carbide, it pops up an alert message, telling that "perl was not found on your PATH.the symbian building tools cannot work successfully withou perl.".
i open a command prompt window, type "perl -v" , it shows the perl information. and type "java -version", it shows the java version 1.6.

what can i do to fix it?

    thanks a lot.

    best regards,
    ming

If you happen to use Windows Vista, you can find article(s) describing some extra steps in the Wiki (just search for vista)

Then perhaps Carbide.c++ is right and you don't have Perl in path. Have you checked that? Calling Perl from command prompt might succeed even if Perl is not in path, it all depends from which directory you call it.

Could you try using capital drive letter. In some places I have noticed that it makes a difference (I think!), carbide, (Again I think) has issues when the workspace has a smaller drive letter.

when i start the carbide, it pops up an alert message, telling that "perl was not found on your PATH.the symbian building tools cannot work successfully withou perl.".
    I resolved the problem.
initially i had my path variabli like this (a space after semicolon)
    C:\Program Files\CSL Arm Toolchain\bin; G:\perl\bin
when space was removed like this ( drive letter should be in caps)
    C:\Program Files\CSL Arm Toolchain\bin;G:\perl\bin
    the problem was resolved.

Re: Carbide installation problem with perl

Interesting finding. If you tested it with Carbide.c++ 2.6, it could be reported as a bug (in the Help menu).
