    How to work with Linux

    Hello guys,

when I browse the S60 docs and related things I can hardly figure out where to start setting up an enviroment to code.
Is there a device emulation for linux (or windows?) available.
Or are there kind of dummy libs for all the s60 specific things, so that I might just run my python code in linux, ignoring s60 specific things?

    Or more general:
How do code for pys60 using linux.

ps: I don't like the idea of stressing my accu using the btooth-console. Or is there something I am missing?

Re: How to work with Linux

    Hi,

The SDKs (emulators) are available only for Windows and can be found here. There are some tricks to install and use them on Linux in this article.

After you install an S60 SDK, download the corresponding (or the closest) PyS60 SDK (the ZIP archive from the same place you download PyS60) and extract it in the S60 SDK's installation directory.

As for IDEs, search this forum to see if you can find something. I don't think 3rd party IDEs (meaning not provided by Nokia) can be used with the emulator for Python development. A simple text editor is usually the best option. After you write the script just put it in the emulator's Python directory and run it or transfer it to your phone and run it.

You will also need the PyS60 Application packager (PyAP) - PythonForS60_x.x.x.tar.gz that can be downloaded from here

Question Re: How to work with Linux

    Hello.

I retrieve this "post" to ask something.

Working with Linux (Ubuntu), and Eclipse.

How do I schedule for the N97 and its integrated GPS?
    What do I need?

Can a generic J2ME application using freely class "Criteria."

Do I need to install any SDK?

Thank you very much, a greeting.

Why would you ask this in the Python forum? The appropriate place is the Java forum.
