    Re: Installing code signing certificate

It is a feature/policy to restrict code signing certificates to only those approved by the manufacturer.

Do what others do: Sign or have the code signed with a certificate which root is already on the device.

    Re: Installing code signing certificate

Hello from what I understand, You can sign your apps for testing purposes with out a publisher ID and if you want to submit your apps on the OVI store then you can submit it with out signing. But if you are developing for a company or if you want to deploy your apps you need a Publisher ID (which are only issued to companies, and you pay +-200 Euros)

Maybe you guys can help me... ? We recently Purchased a Published ID from the Trust Centre.

We installed the certificate to the web browser and we exported the certificate, from there we followed the procedure to extract needed documentation in the command Prompt. There are a few applications we would like to sign for testing purposes (Which access secure API’s). We have registered an account with symbian signed and have registered our testing devices IMEI’s on this account.

Most of The documentation found online is out dated and the downloads the documents refer to are no longer available

    And now I am Stuck...

    Re: Installing code signing certificate

Thank you for responding.. I have been on that link and read the instructions Thoroughly.. but the only problem i am facing is the following:

I have to sign the sis. file with my publisher ID, then load the sis. file on to symbian Signed to verify my account, but what about the UID's? do I leave them as default, do I request them from symbian Signed or how?

    Please help me??

Yes, you need to ask for new UIDs and replace them with the default ones in your code. Check the section starting from "How to request new UIDs: " in the link given in post # 7.

    Re: Installing code signing certificate

There is a little confusion here.
When you register to Symbian Signed, you get an [unverified] (if I remember the notation correctly) account. It can not use the 7 highest level capabilities, and it can not submit anything for release signing (Express or Certified).
This is where the Publisher ID steps in: it proves your identity and makes the account "Verified Account". The verification is done via signing any .sis file with your Publisher ID. But it is not about signing an application. This is why a dummy .sis file is offered, just to save bandwidth, as seen in the screenshot here: http://www.developer.nokia.com/Commu...ng_the_account
    After that you can
    - use 4 additional capabilities
    - submit content for release signing
For testing, you can simply download a developer certificate, and it will have the IMEI-s, UID-s and capabilities registered with your account. Then use the developer certificate to sign your code "at home", and test it on the devices with registered IMEI-s. The devcert package will contain a .sis file which has to be installed to the test devices.
When you want to release the application (practically: remove the IMEI restriction), then comes http://www.developer.nokia.com/Commu...Express_Signed and/or the rest of the page.
