    Activated textfields and softkey behaviour

    Does anybody know why FlashLite changes the Softkey behaviours when activating a text field? I did a

    fscommand2("SetSoftKeys", "Options", "Exit");

    and have a KeyHandler to perform a certain action when pressing a softkey. That works perfectly. But when entering or activating a textfield with

    fscommand("activateTextField");

    the behaviour changes to Flashlite-Options on Softkey1 (left) and to Exit on Softkey2 (right). How to avoid this?

    thx

    Steve

    ....this is happening to me too! I'm testing on an N95 8GB, FL2.0, AS2.0. SetSoftKeys works perfectly.....until you actually select a textfield to input data!! Then the softkey buttons change back to 'Options' and 'Back'!! Is there a solution?? Thanks!!

    This behaviour is very much known. You may call it a bug but it is actually a feature to support T9 input on ur device and yes while inputting in-line text ur soft keys go back to normal to provide "spell" function of T9.But yes the odd thing about this behavior is this if u press right soft key while entering data then it get closed. The only work around i know is to write an input class of ur owns by capturing the keys.

    Hi.

    Thanks for your reply. I've tried using prototypes, but it doesnt seem to work for toffee?

    TextField.prototype.onKeyDown = function() {
    code = Key.getCode();
    if (code == ExtendedKey.SOFT1) { // left soft key
    //do nothing
    }
    if (code == ExtendedKey.SOFT2) { // right soft key
    _root.gotoAndStop("home");
    }
    };

    Can you advise more on your solution please? Thanks!

    You have to create a keylistener for processing key events instead of implementing it on the textfield prototype & i dont think unlike buttons & movie clips, textfields have onKeyDown event . BUT u will be glad to know that i found a ready made class for u. Get it from here:
    Fl2.0 inline text
