Lightbulb [Announce] Series60-Remote 0.3.0 (with new website ;-))

    Hello,

I'd like to announce the release of Series60-Remote 0.3.0 for Linux and Windows XP.

    What is it?
Series60-Remote is an application to manage your mobile pone on your computer. For example, you can send and receive SMS messages directly on your computer. These are then saved in a SQLite- or MySQL-Database.

    Where to get it?
The new website is under http://series60-remote.sourceforge.net/
There is also a Slideshow of all the hot features (you shouldn't miss it ) here (or if you prefer the German version, it's here)

    System requirements:
    • PC
      • OS: GNU/LINUX or Windows XP
      • Python (included in the Windows package)
      • PyQt4 (included in the Windows package)
      • pybluez (included in the Windows package)
    • Mobile
      • PyS60

Here is the full feature list:
    • Send and receive text messages
      • Send a message to multiple contacts
      • Chat dialog like in normal instant messengers
      • Message history browser
      • Notification when you've got a new message
    • Contact browser
    • Informations about your mobile phone
    • First run wizard
    • Tray icon to hide the mainwindow
    • Settings dialog
    • Multilingual
      • Main language: English, completely translated to German

    The ChangeLog is available here

The complete project is of course written in Python

I'm looking forward to your feedback.

    Thanks,
    Lukas

    Hallo Lukas !

New versions are always welcome !

I loved when the incoming message on my phone was announced, with chat option in the popup ! Fantastic !

I tested it and I had the same 0.2.1 error: running from .exe remote does not detect my phone. Running from sources it can detect the phone.

I saw an exception when detecting phone model:

    Code:
    C:\Temp\series60-remote-0.3.0\pc>c:\Python25\python.exe series60-remote.py -d
    Show Mainwindow

The value for variable firmware in getModel() is "200.21.118 27-11-2008 RM-346 (c)Nokia." and type is unicode.

    Other exception in console:

    Code:
    ...
Received data: Header: 262 - Message:

        return self.__values[ [ value[0] for value in self.__values ].index(type) ][
    1]
ValueError: list.index(x): x not in list
Sent data: Header: 200 - Message:
    ...
It was possible to send messages, manage contacts and see the nice messages history.
How about to allow "copy" in chat window ?

    Info:

    OS: Windows XP
    Phone: E71-3, RM-407, FW 200.21.118

Anyway: great app ! Congratulations. I am still looking for free time to port it to N800.

    Hello,
I also found this bug on the computer of my classmate, but I don't know how to fix it yet.

Thanks for your report. These exceptions were caused by a small typo. They can be fixed by changing two lines in the file pc/lib/helper.py
Here is the patch: http://series60-remote.svn.sf.net/vi...12&pathrev=313 (I also included your firmware to the list of known mobiles)

Copy text from the text browser to the input widget? This should be possible. (Only tested on Linux, don't know about Windows)

no, copy from chat window, that one used to send sms and with the conversation history above. I received an sms and would like to copy the text but control+c didn't work.
