How to programatically start an application on startup

    Hi,

I want my application to start on switching on the mobile and as long as the device has power. How did we do this? I want it to be done everytime i switch on the device.

I want it to be done programatically and not using any third party application.

Is there registry mechanism for Symbian OS. In windows registry if we put any entry in the run/runonce key the application will be called everytime the system starts up. Can we do this in the Symbian OS?

Is it possible to start the application by modifying system.ini file? If so how to do that?

    Please let me know.

    Regards,

RE: How to programatically start an application on startup

There is no such 'system.ini', but there is one workaround:
    http://nkn.forum.nokia.com/devrel/threadshow.cfm?msg=7419990645153221&MsgBoard=6074947675247904&idDispSub=6599648579378920

However, it is not recommended and recognizers are risky to play with, as one wrong coded recognizer and phone not boot anymore.

The Nokia forums have changed platforms so that link won't work. This might be the thread that Cleaner was referencing:

Symbian > General > autostart an application

    Cheers
