    Resource audio file

    Hi,

I would like to include standard sounds on my symbian application. I am working on an application with gps, timers, etc etc. I would need standard sounds to be played for time, distance etc etc. (phrases like "1 mile", "3 mile", "1 hour and 5 minutes". As including as many files as phrases needed would be imposible, i was thinking on play different files with words like "mile", "kilometer", "hours"... and numbers (1, 2, 3, 4...).

Where could i find this kind of resources? Or should i record them myself?

    Thanks!

if you are targetting 3rd FP2 devices, maybe you could use TTS APIs provided in api plug-in: http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.php/SDK_API_Plugin

Thanks so much. It seems really interesting, but i am looking for something more general, not only fp2 devices...

Ok, then the answer for the original questions would be that it propably would be better to record those yourself, or try googling some audio files that are free to use in commercial applications..

The other thing I would be worried about though in this case is if you want your application to be language independent i.e. support different languages, in that case you might end up having sound clips for different languages, or maybe you would have to build sis files for different languages, but if thats not your need then you would be fine with some standard pre defined audio clips that goes along with your signed sis file to the end user.

If you cant find them, why not record it yourself as Yucca already pointed out, there are API's available from Symbian also to do the trick otherwise you can use any other mode i.e. non mobile to record and then use them in your code.
