    Newbie..Frustrated. How to install .wgz

    Hi,

    I have an application at http://stocktrade.ie/mobile/BreakingNewsSport.wgz

    I browse to this on my phone and it won't install.

    I have no bluetooth on my laptop to deploy.

    How do I get this to work. Thanks

    once downloaded, use the file manager on your phone, find out where the file is saved and then click on it. It should install.

    Hello,

    How is the MIME type set? See my blog for more detail.

    my code:

    <html>
    <head>
    <title></title>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />
    <script type="text/javascript" src="WRTKit/WRTKit.js"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript" src="FeedUpdateBroker.js"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript" src="RSSReader.js"></script>
    <style type="text/css">
    @import url("RSSReader.css");
    </style>
    <META NAME="Generator" CONTENT="Nokia WRT plug-in for Aptana Studio 1.0.0.36" />
    </head>
    <body onload="init()">
    </body>
    </html>

    can I put this MIME type somewhere in these headers? Thanks for all your help.

    Hello,

    The MIME type is set in one of two ways.

    1) The most common is to configure the web server by adding

    AddType x-nokia-widget .wgz

    to the configuration file.

    2) I think you're on the right track but you have done it inside the widget. How would the browser know about the widget MIME type before it encourages the widget. What if you provide a landing page for the widget which had the MIME type information and a link to download the widget? I'm pretty sure that would work.

    HTH,
    -John

    Another option is to download the widget through a server script that sets the appropriate MIME type in the 'Content-type' header.

    This worked for me:

    <?php
    $filename = 'example.wgz';

    header('Content-type: application/x-nokia-widget');
    header('Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="'.$filename.'"');
    readfile($filename);

    ?>
