    Unhappy defer the sms sending

    Hi ,

    I read in Forum somwhere that we can defer the outgoing sms programatically.
    I tried finding some sample or the link for the same but was unable to find it.

    Can anyone help me out with some sample or link for the same.

    Re: defer the sms sending

    The wiki is your friend as always, check the link below for sms operations :-

    http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.php/SMS_Operations

    You can create a local sms using :-

    http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.php/Create_Local_SMS

    And then you can have a timer implementation, details of which you will again get on wiki, implement your observer which gets notified at the desired time, at that time you can read the message from the local folder and send it out.
    Cheers,
    Mayank

    Re: defer the sms sending

    Thanks a lot for the reply..

    I have gone through the link before.

    I think my communication is not that great which created the confusion.

    Actually I scenario is as follows..

    When the user send the sms using native application.I want to hold the message till some event and then it
    on completion of that event.

    ie I want to defer the sms for some event to complete.

    Re: defer the sms sending

    you might not able to deffer but can able to delete.

    i suggest you log all the events in draft and outbox while sending then you will get may be the work around.
    point is steps are like this

    1. sms is created is draft.
    2. sms is moved to outbox.
    3. sms is changed to sending state
    4. sms is draft folder is deleted.
    5. once sent sms is moved to sent box from out box.

    you can manipulate the steps 2 to 4.

    agree that it is not the perfect solution.

    Re: defer the sms sending

    There are two issues I am facing when deletion of message from outbox.

    1 ) if I delete the sms when EMsvEntriesCreated/ EMsvEntriesmoved it doesnt give me the body and number to be sent.

    2) If we call the code in the EMsvEntriesChanged event we get both the number and body .

    but we dont get both the number and body at the same time so I have kept the check as

    if(aAddress.Length()> 0 && aText.Length()> 0)
    {
    iAppUi->ShowNotification();
    entry->DeleteL(aEntryId);
    }

    But By the time the condition is true and sms is deleted the sms goes out of the outbox.

    Any suggestion???

    Re: defer the sms sending

    The SMS MTM is purposedly designed to send SMS-s, that is why it is hard to tell it not to do that. You can try some magic with temporarily switching to Offline profile - if it is possible at all.
