    Distribute self signed apps

    Hello!

I'd like to know if self signed applications can be distributed (freely or not)?

I know that capabilities are very limited with self signed applications but if our app don't need any more... It could allows us developing a simple version in a first step and check if people are interested.

Thanks in advance for any answer!

    Re: Distribute self signed apps

Applications stores may not accept your self-signed application. Ovi Store for example only accepts certified applications.

You can otherwise release such applications through your own web site and other than a little annoyance for the users (warning message about the app not being trusted, extra config needed for E-series phones) the application will work just fine.

That's what we were thinking about in a first step. My question was only: is it forbidden to do so?

    Thanks again.

No, it is not prohibited in any way, it is a valid release option. See Platform Security and Symbian Signed

    Re: Distribute self signed apps

OK now it's clear for me . I had some doubt that it was only for developing purpose like the "Open Signed"

And very interesting link!!! Exactly what I was looking for: confirm that location API is available for S60 3.2 with self signed apps.

    Thanks
