    top of screen SMS; bottom scrolling dictionary

    I would like to have in top of screen a small very simple text message maker and the bottom of screen a dictionary in scrolling window. User scrolls dictionary below for items/ideas to put into text message maker above. Think frames in html. How do I that in WRT?

    I hacked a proof of concept with frames in Aptana, worked okay in emulator (mimicking web browser) but after creating a .wgz file and sideloading onto Nokia N97, the device combined the upper and lower frames into one scrolling page.

    Hi captain_dixie,

    try posting your HTML/CSS code, in order to check what could be wrong with it. Also, have you tried checking the STEW example, for a full layout example?

    Here is the WRT index.html:

    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
    <head>
    <title>Fun SMS Writer</title>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />
    <script type="text/javascript" src="basic.js"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript" src="WRTKit/WRTKit.js"></script>
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="basic.css" type="text/css">
    <META NAME="Generator" CONTENT="Nokia WRT plug-in for Aptana Studio 2.0.0" />
    </head>
    <frameset rows="100,*" >
    <frame src="outgoing-sms.html" noresize name="top" id="top" frameborder="no" scrolling="no" title="SMS">
    <frame src="my-dictionary.html" noresize name="bottom" id="bottom" frameborder="no" scrolling="yes" title="Dictionary">
    </frameset>
    <body onload="init()">
    </body>
    </html>

    Do you know if I can do frames within WRT for Nokia E71?

    And thanks for the hint to look at the STEW example. I looked at it briefly yesterday and now I will delve into it deeper.

    Hi Steve,

    frames, as well as iframes, are not particuarly suited for usage in WRT widgets, both for memory and navigation issues with them. You should try to redesign the widget code in order to embed all the layout in a single HTML document.

    Hi Pit,

    I thought you'd say that and thank you. I'm already imaging the coding to create a single HTML document.
