Exclamation Caller ID enclosed in quotation marks in calls coming from Asterisk

The Caller ID of incoming calls from Asterisk is displayed on the phone enclosed within quotation marks (").

In fact, the INVITE Asterisk sends does have the quotation marks around the Caller ID ("302045766"):

    INVITE sip:gregg@192.168.90.160:5060;transport=udp SIP/2.0
    Via: SIP/2.0/UDP 192.168.90.48:5060;branch=z9hG4bK5d2d62de;rport
    From: "302045766" <sip:302045766@192.168.90.48>;tag=as3f81c2a9
    To: <sip:gregg@192.168.90.160:5060;transport=udp>
    Contact: <sip:302045766@192.168.90.48>

But I've tested with phones from Linksys, Grandstream, Aastra, Siemens, Polycom, and ANY of these display the quotation marks when receiving a call from Asterisk. They all strip them. So it seems this a Nokia implementation bug.

Why are quotation marks on the Caller ID bad?
They are bad because, when numeric, the Caller ID will not match with any address book entry of the Nokia phone. So the address book is useless for reverse lookup of Caller ID numbers.

    What do you think?

Re: Caller ID enclosed in quotation marks in calls coming from Asterisk

    Welcome to the Dibo :-)

If you were developing your own app most definitely you could have taken care of those asterisks, but in this case it is more like a bug with the default app.

Your query looks more like an end user one and for a more suitable and end-user focused answer please see http://www.nokia.com/support or http://www.nokia.com/discussions
    Cheers,

Allow me to disagree The page http://www.forum.nokia.com/Tools_Doc...entation/VoIP/ includes several docs that, from your perspective, could be considered end user oriented. And several of those documents point to this forum as the place to report problems and maybe find solutions.

Also in the section "What help is available to users of the SIP VoIP Settings applications?" of the page http://www.forum.nokia.com/Tools_Doc...lication.xhtml you can read:

The SIP VoIP Settings applications are offered to you unsupported. If you encounter problems with the applications, you may be able to find solutions by using the VoIP forum on the Forum Nokia Discussion Boards.

Moreover, what other channel do users have currently available to report bugs they find on the Nokia VoIP other than this forum?
If there is another way to report these bugs, I am all ears! I really would like to know.
