How to request All-Files capability in Open Signed Offline?

I requested All-Files capability in Open Signed Offline, but get a reject mail:
File manager -type of applications will not be granted with manufacturer capabilities.

How can I request All-Files capability? Thanks!

if you want it for File manager, then it will not be accepted, as you already have experienced.

AllFiles is hardly ever needed so you are not missing anything by not having it.

I planed to port my opensource text editor from harmattan to symbian ... i guess the only option is to do io in a sandbox dir ?

Re: How to request All-Files capability in Open Signed Offline?

I wonder how your question is related to the topic of this thread.

Yes, without AllFiles capability you will not be able to access files in the \sys and \private folders (except your own private folder of course). If that is a restriction for a text editor then yes, your editor will be running in a sandbox.
It is a very similar thing as saving .doc / .txt files into \Windows and \Program Files folders on Windows, or to /bin and /sbin on Linux.

The only trick here is that the file editor should presumably be able to read/edit files which are stored themselves in a private directory and for this to work your app app must be ready to handle shared file handles rather than (or in addition to) file paths.
